i kind of feel you op. a while ago, i was looking for house md fic and was dismayed to find that the one with the greatest # of hits was a sherlock crossover (yes, i am aware that house is a modern adaptation of sherlock holmes). so even though the crossovers might not necessarily be that prevalent, it sometimes feels like it is and that certain fandoms have the tendency to dominate conversations, even if you've tried to choose your fandom space wisely.
