OP here.

But it's not aout martial arts high kicks. It's about a competent young woman coming to terms with a powerful childhood trauma, and seeking revenge for her family's death, and trying to balance that out with her feeling of love and respect for her surrogate father. Yes, it's an action flick, sure, but instead of a throwaway heroine you might expect, we got a woman who was an equal to the main male role. That is why some of us love her...not the high-kick kung fu.
