Livejournal slash crackdown

Livejournal is apparently cracking down on anybody who even remotely posts any kind of homosexual content and is blocking the IPs of users who post them. The journals are still up but the owners of the journals cannot access their accounts.

If anybody here still has a Livejournal, now would be a good time to back everything on it up.

LJ's russian owned these days. It's probably doing this to comply with Russian's assbackwards homophobic law against promoting anything homosexual.

I can't seem to find any reference to this aside from this one source you posted, and sounds like she(?) is posting on behalf of her friend. Sounds a little suspect, to be honest, considering she doesn't have a screencap or any evidence.

Not that this isn't a serious issue (I have slash on LJ myself, still seems to be fine) but kinda sounds like trying to sensationalize shit... I don't know if Russia's homophobic laws could ever impact LJ, but slash fans make up an enormous portion of their customers, so it'd be suicidal to alienate them.

English speaking based hasn't been the customer for years. You can use and enjoy LJ, but we're not the target audience - and that is fine but get over the entitlement

I notice she doesn't say what kind of slash it is.

I've seen people on DeviantArt whining about DA being homophobic because they took down their slash art and when I did a google search about the characters it turned out they were aged 12 and 19.

Could it be that LJ is again cracking down on slash featuring underage characters like they did with the whole Harry Potter/Professor Snape thing?

There is absolutely no proof that this is true. There are maybe 3 people who can't access their journals, yet no journals have been deleted at all.

Listen, I hate LJ as much as the next person and wish everyone would move to DW but there's no reason to start spreading lies about the site. There is plenty of shit they do wrong on their own without the rumors and wank.
