Wall-E technically fails both the Bechdel and the reverse Bechdel, because the robots don't really have any gender, and the only two humans who talk to each other are a man and a woman.

The people in the floating chairs are "skyping" (whatever their equivalent is) with their friends, I'm not sure, does the Bechdel test only refer to real life conversations?

I don't count those any more than I would count background characters in an establishing shot of the restaurant, because it's basically white noise.

You're forgetting the "named" part and the "Other than about a man/woman" part. "background people in chairs" having unknown conversations fails the first and has no way to verify the second.
