=[

same here, anon. i have irl friends but we were rarely in the same fandoms, and my internet fandom friends have gone their separate ways. i miss talking with them, it's not the same with people who aren't into it [i don't bug them with that, as i myself don't care for people who won't stfu about a fandom i'm just not interested in]. finding new fandoms and making new friends there takes time, but it is doable, and its a lot of fun looking for new stuff to love, so try it. you may be pleasantly surprised, and i like to say that you could be discovering your next favorite thing ever, but you'll never know if you don't try.

I still wonder if one of my somewhat close fandom friends is doing well. She deleted all her accounts with out an explanation.

I wonder this too, about my old fandom friend. It was my fault we lost touch, really, as I didn't reply to her last email, but she's so much busier than I am I doubt she ever thinks about me at all. It makes me kind of sad, but I'm happy she seems to have a fulfilling life :) I still kind of miss her, but I'm glad for her sake she doesn't really have the time for me anymore.

Everyone seems to wonder this

Seriously, like, EVERYONE wonders about this stuff, and yet no one ever actually reaches out to each other over this stuff.

Weird.

It's that thing where each person assumes the other is going to do it without really thinking about it, and if they don't, they must not be interested/are ignoring them. I know I do it =/ (this is more true with RL friends for me though if it's online friends I tend to assume they are busy since the relationships are much more casual and I do the same thing)

Honestly, I know for me it's because the ones I think about are the ones that I had a pretty serious falling out with/reacted very very very badly when we started drifting apart [Ex: Saying I was a "foul weather friend" because...um...Basically my life was getting busy enough that I wasn't online much.]

So in some cases there might be a very good reason not to.

I tried reaching out to an old fandom friend a few years ago, but she just ended up hiding her Facebook, so... I'm pretty sure it means she doesn't want to be a part of my life. *shrug*

I know that feeling, OP. Sucks, doesn't it?

I wonder this about this too, and usually it just ends up making me all melancholy.

There's the friends I "left behind" ages ago when I was a kidlet with a different name, who I wonder if they've ever grown up to be what they dreamed of (or changed as much as I feel I have). I especially wonder how one of my first older friends in fandom is now, because I dropped our correspondence for reasons I can't recall, and I wonder if she's still an artist. What would she think of me and my lethargy now after all the encouragement and advice she had given me. And then there's gaia, and everyone I knew in our "heyday" but for one is gone and scrubbed away from the internet.

And the ones who's internet whereabouts I know, I can't muster up a way to even say hello because I'm afraid it'd be incredibly unwelcome for whatever reason.

I feel you :(

I think about this so often.

A solatoroba icon?!

I never thought I'd see one here!

Me too. Some I can get hold of still, but our lives have all changed massively in 12 years. OthersI no longer have details for and that makes me sad :( I like to think we'd all have long geeky conversations if we did get back in contact.

I went by a different name then, so even if they saw this they wouldn't know!
