(I was also one of those typical yaoi fangirls.)

Hell, I probably read those even before I was yaoi fangirl.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-08 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)It's easy to miss that stuff...if you aren't in fandom and are just a fan.

Still appreciated all the bad/unrealistic gay sex, lol.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-09 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)... Wait, let me check my math...Okay, that was more like 14 years ago, but still.

That being said, a lot of people who are pretty great now used to be like that. We all have embarrassing things in our pasts.

(I wasn't really one but eh, I bet I was still annoying.)

We all (hopefully) get over it in our older years.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-09 12:36 am (UTC)(link)I shipped Shuichi with his best friend rather than Yuki when I was young and new to the whole yaoi thing. Because even though I didn't really have the knowledge or worldliness to know it was rapey, I still saw Yuki as a total jerk and knew something was just wrong there.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-09 12:38 am (UTC)(link)Granted, I don't really talk about it, and I am not interested in making friends with those hyperactive batshit crazy stereotypical yaoi fans. Even though on the inside, I kind of am one. lol

About the secret: You're feeling guilty for something that didn't even happen, Anon. Let it go.
For the record, I got into m/m erotica just when puberty was hitting, and indeed was for a while one of those annoying fangirls who also talked with random Japanese words in between. And then I grew out of it. Not all the stuff you find appealing at 13 is still appealing at 25. Hell, I was mostly out of that when I was 15 already. It helped that I wanted to become a writer and by that time I was hanging out with an online group composed mostly of fic-writers: we all took our writing very seriously; and that included calling in bullshit at certain tropes.
I still like, once in a while, reading stuff with top/bottom dynamics and the likes, but I acknowledge it as fucked up and to be read as fantasy only; and there's no harm in fantasies. *le shrug*

(Anonymous) 2013-10-09 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)Also I see the word "rapey" thrown around a lot for the stupidest reasons. Even when there's nothing really "rapey".
Get over yourself, OP.
