Anxiety. It's awesome that you don't care if people don't like you, but for a lot of people that type of fear or criticism or fear of criticism is very real and not something they can just ignore or suddenly stop feeling.

Heck, I even get nervous posting anon most of the time. It's not logical. I just don't like people to be mad at me or dislike me or feel like I've made a fool of myself in public.

This. Just because you're anon doesn't stop you from getting hurt if people attack you. And FS has its share of jerks.

Yeah, seriously. Fucking up and saying the wrong thing is so much more bearable when you don't have a name attached to it, because at least there's no way anybody will know that it was you that was stupid that one time. Not that there's much chance would have cared anyway, but anxiety is easier to manage with zero chance.

I agree...
I rarely comment, but in the rare case that I do leave a comment expressing my personal opinion (and I'd do this anonymously), I always phrase it as placatingly as I can, and still I never dare to go back to see if I got replies.
I have a crippling fear of stepping on other people's toes and it's difficult to weed this out of every aspect of my life, even in anon mode. :(
