NaNoWriMo is three weeks away! Who's doing it, who's actively avoiding it, and who's spending all their time cruising the forums?

I'd like to do it but I always feel really overwhelmed by the NaNoWriMo community. Like I go to check out the forums and just...stare and lurk and have no idea where to start.

It might be because the community is just really enthusiastic, or has had their story planned for a year/makes just how large the project [or how many people are doing it] just kind hit home and makes them freeze up.

Obviously, idk if that's the case but I've seen something like that happen before.

I'm not even a little tempted to do it this year, which actually makes me really sad. I participated for 10 years (and "won" 7 or 8?) and last year was my first time sitting out since I started.

Ha, I don't participate in NaNoWriMo, but I use the forums shamelessly for fanfic research.

I actually kind of resent NaNoWriMo for stealing good fic writers in November, though.

I'm going to participate, which reeks of BAD IDEA BAD IDEA BAD IDEA everywhere, considering my current levels of stress. But I have a plot (or two, still haven't decided which one will I work on), and unlike last year, I am not buried in academical work from the uni, nor have a stable job yet. So I'm trying my hand at it, with all the knowledge I will probably not make it 'till the 50.000 words goal and that if I can't make it I'll feel like a failure.

Let's see what happens. Maybe I'll get to surprise myself nicely, IDK.

I'm doing it. I've been having trouble getting some of my original ideas to mesh properly so I'm probably going to do fanfic this year, there's an AU idea I have that I don't think I'd ever finish just writing it on my own so I figure NaNo is a good incentive to actually write the damn thing.

Yes yes yes always do it :D I've been doing this since 2005 and won every year save that first year (got to 33k and just... stopped because I hadn't planned enough), did TWO in 2009 and 2011, did one Camp NaNoWriMo last year and both this year (one 25k one, one full 50k one), NaNoWriMo is my thing, man <3 I can't conceive not doing it.

Also, I have a raging forum addiction. Send help.

I'm sort of doing it. I'm planning on using it to try to get a baking blog started; I figure, one post a day for 30 days will help me create a nice backlog of posts. Also, then NaNoWriMo will be delicious.

Oh my god, three weeks, where the fuck did the last year go. This will be my, um, sixth fucking attempt, and I refuse to give up until I finally have a 50,000 word pile of gibberish to call a first draft. I need to plan! I need names, a plot, personalities for the two main characters, an outline, ajahkajhskah.

Me~. I do it every year even though I think I only have about a 50% success rate. XD

I don't have my story plotted yet though, just a word document of a list of ideas, so who knows which one I'll pick (if I even pick one of them and don't just trip off into the sunset with a totally different one).
