that scene was really hard to watch because we see a lot of growth in fenris as a character but at the same time there's like ... some kind of stubbornness in him too, regarding slavery, and it's clear that the thing he hates the absolute most is slavery. not only does he not want to go back (who can blame him??) but he FIGHTS back, and he doesn't stop there - he pursues his hunters himself.

and then the moment his only allies turn on him for coin or whatever your personal hawke's motivations are, you see the complete shock and then despondence in his face. i have never been more surprised in a video game scene than this one, when he hesitates for all of 5 seconds and then peacefully returns to slavery. i'm sure he's aware his memories are to be wiped, and that might have had something to do with his choices, but still. he fought back so hard and then when he's cornered, he goes from wounded animal to leashed pet. it's fucked up. that fucked me up. i'm still fucked up

Ugh, I've seen the cutscenes and it breaks my heart. Fenris is my everything for DA2 and I really don't think I can ever return him to that sleazeball Danarius. I always prep myself before each play through on who I'm going to romance because if I don't I default to Fenris.

And yes, we should have had more of a sex scene with him. But at least his kissing scenes are the hottest (Merril's are the sweetest).

see someone spoiled his romance scene for me but it was still hot as hell.

but yeah idk i feel like fenris plays a bigger part than people give him credit for and it really messes with my trust when people find entertainment in completely breaking him. which probably sounds stupid but i really feel for video game characters u kno

I think that's a good reading. I'm sure the scene was justified by not wanting to animate a fight (maybe?), but I'm not sure... Fenris could have at least fought back, and maybe gets knocked out and captured anyway or something. But something about the look on his face when he gives up, realizing that he's been betrayed and he's all alone, it's almost more powerful than that.

Damnit, Fenris. And damn you too for your awesome voice, Gideon Emery!

the thing is (spoilers i guess) like if he sticks with you but your friendship (and maybe rivalry idk) level isn't high enough, and if you side with the mages, he'll ditch you and later you end up having to kill him cuz he's helping the templars. so to me it's not even that he wants to avoid a fight. i just think the small degree of trust he awarded to someone in his whole life post-slavery completely fucked him over if you sold him back to danarius, and he realises that, and he's so broken because of it that he's like fuck it. i think that's why he goes back, knowing his memories are likely to be wiped, so even if he can't have his freedom, at least he won't remember the person who took it from him the moment he/she was provided that chance.
