I don't mind that they ask the actors. Fans ask tons of stupid questions at cons. They ask actors questions about their characters opinions about episodes they weren't even on. They don't mind answering questions about ships or character interactions.
I HATE how vicious the fandom reaction over it is though (to the cast and to each other). The actors are now understandably intimidated by the irrational shit storm that erupts no matter what they say. IMO the way the con circuit has set up the fan-cast relationship is such a mess...
