  • The scientific name for the bearded vulture is Gypaetus barbatus and it is also known as the Lammergeier or Lammergeyer.
  • The Bearded Vulture is a bird of prey, and though it mostly eats carrion, it has been known to attack live prey.
  • They live and breed on crags in high mountains in southern Europe, in the Caucasus, Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, and Tibet.
  • They can have a wingspan of 7.6–9.3 ft.
  • The Bearded Vulture has a status of "least concerned", though it is locally threatened in some areas.
