Yeah, but the whole 'truth serum' thing was likely a hoax and I'm not convinced that her sooper spheshul computer science powers are all that super special, given that Ward had already all the info she offered to get into from SHIELD files.

How was she an amazing field agent on her first try? She got busted and she only got in because of her Rising Tide connections. Yeah, she scraped by when she was made but it didn't seem as though she actually had a plan aside from "don't get killed" and she certainly couldn't sell the bad guy the idea that she's playing SHIELD instead of the other way around.

As for the angsty past;: so do Ward and May, and Coulson might not even actually be Coulson. One, it's their world is based on comics where everyone has a tragic past and two, the characters were created by Whedon.

Based on only the pilot I would have agreed with you, but since then they toned the Sue-ness down and started giving the characters depth, which is why I personally think that just yelling Sue is unfair at this point.
