I remember there was an anti-Robert Downey JR brigade on tumblr who was getting upset about his "blackface" performance in Tropic Thunder and his "yellowface" performance in Sherlock Holmes 2.

Nevermind the fact that, in both instances, he was playing a white man in those movies. Nevermind the fact that the Chinese outfit in Sherlock Holmes was a slapped-together disguise. Nevermind the fact that his character in Tropic Thunder was constantly being told how offensive he was for dressing like a black man. Nope, tumblr didn't care about context.

I mean....both those instances are kind of problematic. But if you're going to single out Hollywood for being racist, there are much MUCH better things (and actors) to single out. RDJ playing a white man in diguise isn't one of those things.

Plus, the whole point of his character in Tropic Thunder was to mock Hollywood's ridiculous casting of white people in roles that have been written for POC. The writers are on the SJW's side on that one!

The people who don't get the point of his character in Tropic Thunder are the same people who believe what Colbert says on his show is his real opinion.
