i wish i knew what people meant when they say 'social justice warrior'.

what makes you a sjw?

if i say, i don't know, that i'd prefer people not misuse the term OCD when they really just mean they're organized--am i a sjw then?

is being a sjw when you're acting unreasonably and looking for insults when there aren't they?

is it when the insult really is there, but nobody takes you seriously because they'd prefer to ignore it?

is it about how you handle a legitimate affront?

i've never seen a real definition for it and people's perceptions of what makes a sjw are so varied that the term seems borderline meaningless to me.

When you are trying so hard not to offend anyone that you actually bring it full circle and say something incredibly fucked up, example: "Gay men are actually just super-mysognists." and/or you shut down anyone's arguments and resort to name calling. Usually, I think, the SJW actually goes out looking for these situations and in most cases they are deliberately trolling.

I also feel it has less to do with what a person stands for and more to do with the bullying tactics that they use.

The "warrior" is there because this person is someone looking for a fight using SJ as their weapon to win. If you can't tell if someone is a SJW or not, you look if they're trying to help people or hurt them. Social Justice is about helping people, not telling people to get aborted/kill themselves.

This, basically. It's using social justice to prop yourself up, not help a cause.

- people who care about social justice

- who you don't like, or think are stupid or too extreme and on the internet

It's one of those ill-defined things like 'art' or 'obscenity,' I think. My personal definition: if someone is ostensibly promoting social justice, but is behaving in a way that would be described as oppressive, bullying, bigoted, or otherwise problematic if it was coming from, say, a racist or homophobe--they're a SJW.

In a nutshell, bad, harmful behavior in the service of a worthwhile cause is still bad, harmful behavior.
