I think that was my issue actually - that last line there. I get that she's supposed to be our everyman, our window into all the aspects of SHIELD that the rest of the team has been trained in but we (and she) don't get and need explained to us.

but I can't identify with her. She just seemed so darn disinterested in everything. I get that it was sort of meant to be a plot point and I'm hoping that in the wake of this past episode it'll be better, but why should I give a crap about what's going on when the character I'm meant to see through the eyes of clearly doesn't. Talking to the two scientists seems to physically pain her, talking to Coulson feels like she's trying and failing to be snarky and she doesn't really spend appreciable time around the pilot. So we're left with her interactions with the love interest bruiser, and those have a weird blind date vibe, like they both feel obligated to pretend to some interest in one another without any actual chemistry. It's literally frustrating to me to try and enjoy the show through her eyes.

But like I said, maybe with this past episode, that'll ease up. Because I *want* to like her. I like a lot of aspects of her.
