Dumb question about ethnicity

I've been confused about this for a while now. I'm 1/4 Mexican. I kind of never realized my dad would be considered bi-racial by most(?) people but when I realized that, I wondered if most people would consider me 'white' or not. It's not a big deal, I'm just curious about how other people perceive this shit.

It's more what you look like than your actual race.

da, I think that's true. My friend is half Ethiopian, half Irish, but she has fairly dark skin so everyone considers her black. Her brother got all the Irish and is pretty fair and has blue eyes.

That "one drop" rule is so fucked up. I mean obvious they've encountered different experiences in society because he looks 100% white and she doesn't, but they're both biracial. And most of the time no one believes them.

I'd imagine that if you were "mostly white" and appeared to be white, you'd generally be considered white. I mean, if you want to pull out your "not white" cred while engaging a SJW or something, go for it. lol But race is becoming more and more difficult to define, for exactly that reason - how should mixed people identify, or should they even have to make that identification?

Though, with Mexican, pretty sure Mexicans can be "white" too... I'm not sure what the best word is for darker skinned people, I know the US Census tries to recognize that "Hispanic" isn't necessarily a racial identifier.
