No. Because she's going to come back in the series finale and we will get Tony/Ziva for real. I'm glad Ziva didn't die.

Sorry.

Naaaaah. I'm not a huge Ziva fan, but it's been done. It was shocking and effective when Kate died, but Ziva should live.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-11 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I disagree, even though I'm scared that her being alive means as the person says above they'll bring her back in the end to have her end up with Tony. And I don't ship. At all. But I think her sendoff was the right one for her character.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-14 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I don't even care if she comes back in 'the end'. That would be one episode and would be tolerable, Tiva or no Tiva.

The thought that I hate is the actress changing her mind and coming back full-time. No personal malice towards the actress, or even the character, but I would simply prefer to have her off my screen, and a death is the best way to accomplish that. (In most cases. *cough*Mike)

I stopped watching the show awhile ago but Ziva was always a favorite. I am so very happy to hear she didn't die.

What's wrong with her?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-11 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Most of the people in my family watch the show, and I therefore try to avoid it because of overexposure, but when I do catch a few minutes of it, she's one of my favorite parts.

Re: What's wrong with her?

She comes off as very smug, which is a hit-or-miss trait with me - I end up either getting a huge kick out of the character or hating their guts. (For context, John Carter on ER was another one I couldn't stand.)

It would have been (no pun intended) overkill.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-14 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
That's a lot of the point I was trying to make on the secret - over the years, even though I liked many of the female characters who were killed (Kate, Paula, Lara Macy) I tended to disagree with the people who said the significant number of dead females was a problem; it's a long-running show, people are going to die, some of those people are going to be female, etc.

But when Jackie was brought back for one episode, thrown a couple of cute scenes so the fans could recall how awesome she is and what a good relationship she and Vance had, then killed off so that he could angst - that, to me, was when I realized that the overkill ship had already sailed.

And that being the case, I wish it could have taken the possibility of this character coming back in the future with it.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I like Ziva. Not nearly as much as I adored Kate, and want to be Abby, but still.

I'm glad she, at least, didn't die.

That said, if she and Tony wind up together, I think I'll be more than a little disappointed.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm happy someone else remembers Kate. She was my favourite. ;__;

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Mine too! And I watched season 1 with my mom, and she absolutely REFUSED to watch it ever again after Kate was murdered.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
DA

This is funny because my mom makes me watch any episode where it's possible someone's going to die before she'll watch it herself. She wouldn't watch the first two episodes of this season until she knew no one was going to die. And all of this is because of what happened to Kate (well, also Robert Redford but that's another story).

Same here, only in reverse. Mom still watches it to this day, but I washed my hands of it and the whole fandom once Kate died. It's really kind of a shame, because I was the first person to write femmeslash for NCIS fandom, and I had more ideas, but after Kate was killed, even thinking about it made me a little depressed, so I just gave up on it.

Disagree. So relieved that she didn't die.

And since they can't bring Kate back from the dead, I hope Tony and Ziva end up in the finale.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
So glad I'm not alone on this. I reallllllly wish they would have killed her and thus killed "Tiva" in canon. She is the only character out of all of the characters ever on that show that I hate. *sigh*

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
That' show I feel about Tony. Hate him. Don't exactly love Gibbs either, but he's not nearly as irritating as Tony.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
The virulent Ziva hate was why I left NCIS fandom. I understand not wanting to see Tony/Ziva (I didn't either, because I didn't/don't care for Tony), but people got ridiculous with it. I'm really glad that they didn't kill her off. Partially because I liked her, and partially because the list of female characters they've killed has gotten ridiculous.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with you completely. I don't have a problem with people disliking Ziva, though personally I love her. But the amount of hate and a lot of the reasons people listed for hating her made me uncomfortable. And personally, I don't like Tiva because she deserves better than him. He treats the people around him horribly.

AYRT

This. So many people listed so many reasons to hate Ziva. And a lot of the time they would completely condone everything Tony did. Sure, she wasn't perfect, and she did regrettable things, but all those people who said they wanted her to die a horrible death starting from the time with the whole situation with Michael and the aftermath really, really bothered me.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously. The reactions whole Michael situation pissed me off because Tony did things there worse than she did, and yet the fandom loves him. Then again, the show does the same thing. Everything wrongTony (and Gibbs) does is justified on the show or made out to not be really that bad.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
DA

Ugh, Gibbs and Tony are two of the main reasons I can't watch NCIS anymore. They're both utter jackasses and horrible to the people around them. And the way the show and fandom just brush it off and make excuses for it piss me off. Especially when it comes to Gibbs.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-14 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Tony is absolutely a person I would hate and avoid if I knew him in real life. Other qualities of his can be debated, but there is no denying that he is an unapologetic bully who enjoys making weaker people miserable.

However, these scenes are not the only ones that exist for the character. I can enjoy him when he's being snarky or unexpectedly perceptive, and still cringe when the bully side shows up.

Ziva (my perception only) puts off a smug general attitude that makes the entirety of her character unappealing to me.

Ziva is the better 'person'. Tony is (again, for purposes of my personal enjoyment) the better character.

I hate almost every character in this show, Ziva is one of the exceptions so I'm glad they didn't kill her.
