Oh hon :/ You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. Different times, different values. Does this mean your great-grandmother was right in her ways? Nope, it doesn't. But you gotta acknowledge that the way people behaved +70 years ago was... well, I think we've made some progress in understanding on what constitutes abusive behavior.

As someone else said, it's your name now, and it's your turn to make somthing of it... or not. Wanna know something funny? The name on my Birth Certificate is "Daniela"... because of a girl in a Chilean Pepsi ad was adressed as "Daniela" and my mom went "Oh my, she's so pretty and feminine! I'm gonna name my daughter like that 8D". (Imagine her disappointment when she realized she was raising a tomboy). The only ones who call me "Daniela" are from my family, I'm "Lynx" to everyone else.

I guess, what I want to say is... a name is only what you want to make of it. Authorial intent is not that important, what matters is how you feel about your own identity. If you like your name, keep it, and forget about its origins. If you don't like your name, or the idea of your name is now forever tainted... well, you can always change it.
