I don't think there's anything wrong with incest between consenting adults. Everyone acts like it's the worst thing ever but as long as no one is being harmed I really don't see the issue. (For the record I'm not into any of my family members but that doesn't mean I'm going to tell anyone else they shouldn't be.)

This!

And I disagree.

Inbreeding might be a problem, but except for that, I'm totally with you.

I can't come up with any rational opposition but I still find it squicky.

I can see your point between, say, siblings or cousins, but even as adults parents and their children have such a tremendous difference in authority/social standing that I'm not sure I'd agree. It would be like a boss fucking his employees, which is in fact illegal in many places for just that reason and morally dubious at best in others.

Pretty much this.

OP

Yeah, I probably should've clarified. I meant siblings and cousins...people who are more or less the same age. Parents and even adult children have way too much of a power imbalance for it to ever be equal.

Then I totally agree. In fact, it probably happens more than most people realize thanks to sperm donation.

I agree there's nothing inherently wrong with it, but I also know the likelihood of two close relatives who grew up together deciding one day, when they're fully grown, to have that kind of relationship without past abuse of some sort manipulating their reasoning is staggeringly low, so I understand why it generally has to be frowned upon by society. Now and then, in a blue moon, you get long-lost siblings who were never raised together randomly meeting and discovering too late that they're related, and cases like that, I say it's nobody else's business if they stay together.

OP

Oh, I agree that it's unlikely/rare, just that if it were to happen without any sort of abuse or anything (and I'm sure it has/does *somewhere* considering the sheer amount of people there are in the world) I don't see where it's automatically wrong. It seems a lot of people think it's *always* wrong even if it's completely consensual and not at all abusive.
