In that case, I would be too busy freaking out about the situation that this malevolent trickster god had put me in to worry about the puppy and the baby.

Pretty much. I mean if we're going to get into potential, a baby who grows up into one wonderful human being has more potential to do good than a very good dog. On the flip side, one terrible human being has much more potential to destroy things than even a very bad dog. That's why I'd rather leave the "but it could turn out so good/so bad!!" out of the equation.

Jeez, exactly. I was going off the general assumption that babies live longer, are more beloved, and are much more emotionally complex than puppies 99% of the time.
