I wasn't with them when they were drinking - I think there was weed involved as well - but they all seemed fine when they came downstairs and he just slowly drifted off to sleep so I'm not too worried. Or I wasn't.

If you're unsure of how to tell if there's reason to worry just monitor his breathing for a minute. Less than eight to ten times in a minute and/or his pulse seems unusually fast accompanied by clammy and cold hands you might have cause for some concern.

That's been my rule of thumb anyway.
