I think the concept that "white is not a race" and white Americans don't "have a culture" only leads to the idea that white is the default setting for human beings.

Completely agree. I'd be surprised if someone didn't. Not acknowledging one's ethnicity or culture = you're default. In the same way that when someone says they "don't have an accent" they mean "I speak real English, correctly" and believe they are default.

I guess it's actually because of Tumblr that I thought it was a common feeling. I guess not, though, so I feel better to be proven wrong. :)

Yeah, I haven't been active on tumblr that long, anon, but the bare edges of extremism I catch glimpses of now and then are just that, extremism. Whatever happened to moderate internet spaces that didn't cater to a specific brand of crazy? Did they ever exist?
