To put it simply, they decided that their show about a female Avatar needed to be centered around a love triangle that won't die. All the other plots from both seasons (which basically boil down to evil waterbenders in some fashion) are second to that nonsense.

I really want to watch Korra (after I finally watch the first show), but love triangles are absolutely my media kryptonite, so fuck that.

To be fair, it's not actually *centered* around the love triangle. There's one episode in the first season where it's in your face, but other than that it's just a scattering of scenes through out the rest of the episodes between the awesome.

This sounds like it might be a second episode that has it stronger elements of it - but I haven't seen it yet, so I can't say. [And frankly, sounds like it also might be getting rid of it too - or so I hope.]

AYRT Ugh, thanks for the heads up! I hate that trope - both the one where girls' stories have to be centered around romance and that romantic triangles must not only exist but drag on and on.

this is the thing keeping me from watching the series, ever since i found out

(i was planning on waiting for it to come out here in the non-usa, but then, internet. bullet dodged!)

Actually I think that part of the story is much better this year then last year.
