No one else is saying it, so I will: Japan is not the mecca of civilisation. It is not the promised land. It is a country with problems, its citizens hate non-Japanese people with a passion, and they are allowed to display racism against you whenever and however they want, because it's not against the law. You might think you'll be a lot happier there, but if you really need to 'get away from your problems,' then you should seriously consider somewhere else. This is not a flame, I am being absolutely serious. You go there as a tourist and you get the royal treatment. As soon as you go there to live, hell comes crashing down on your shoulders. Consider the UK or Australia.

I know most of this. There are only three places in the world that interest me enough to live there. Russia's not far enough away, my Uncle lives in New Zealand. I'm used to shit. Trust me.

And Protip: not everyone lives in America. It'd be pretty useless for me to move to the UK CONSIDERING I LIVE THERE.

Um, unless you're fluent in Japanese and are Asian, you're gonna have one hell of a hard time in Japan. Actually even if you ARE both of those things, the simple fact that you're NOT Japanese will be going against you. Well whatevs I'm sure if you really want to live over there, you will find a way to make it work. But allow me to be the first to say "I told you so" when you're ready to go home after less than a year.

Hmmm... I'll agree with you on a lot of points. But I wouldn't say people here hate non-Japanese people with a passion. I think that's taking a generalization a bit too far. While a lot of Japanese DO dislike foreigners, a lot also either don't mind them or don't give a shit either way.

I'll definitely agree that living in Japan can be pretty hard. If you're not Japanese, you pretty much have to be here for school, work, part of some organization, or be married to a Japanese citizen.

I'm not gonna say the person who made that secret is an idiot for wanting to live in Japan, though. I know how it is to hate the place you live in. It's good to try a new things, after all.
