I feel the same way regarding most shoujo and shounen (I guess I'm just not lucky enough to encounter a really, really good one), but for some reason I can't seem to stop myself from reading more of this series. It's not great by any stretch yet it's addicting, like reading a trashy romance novel.

That's a good analogy of it. I think VK just has that effect on people, since someone who works at an anime store near where I live said that people who usually don't like twice at it are waiting for the new volumes on the edge of their seat. Must be something to it.

That's it exactly. I wouldn't even normally get near a five foot radius from such a series but reading this one feels like I'm on crack. At least the art's pretty though, so I guess it has that going for it aside from the sexual tension the author likes to bombard us with. ^^
