(Well, I also saw Star Trek V even thought I hadn't seen IV, which is a shame because IV couldn't possibly have sucked as much as V did.)

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)In my case I may have actually seen the previous movie but my memory just sucks :/

At least in my experience.
Doesn't mean they weren't fun while you watched them, but sometimes they just aren't that good or original or moving that your brain bothers to remember them.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)I have the same problem with book series. I've read books trying to figure out if I'd missed something in a previous book, or if it was actually new information in the flashbacks.

If you like a series enough, usually you'd watch a movie again. If not, wikipedia has always helped me out. It's good for a general refresher.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)OTOH, I had little sympathy for my cousin who wanted to come see the 2nd LOTR movie with us. She tried to get me to explain the first movie on the way to the theater and I was like "so.. there's a hobbit? And a ring? and..." It didn't go very well for her.

But then I am someone who is very unlikely to go a year without watching the previous movies in a series I love.
