IM

Do people use IM anymore? I don't, but that's probably because half the time I do people either can't talk or aren't logged on. Did Facebook replace it?

I use it pretty much exclusively to talk to two people.

I think most people use facebook or texting instead of IM. I use gchat to talk with one person...otherwise I email/comment/text, etc.

I stopped using IM when I realized that pretty much the only person who messaged me on it was an annoying twit. I don't text though... I just use e-mail.

I pretty much only use it when talking to people outside my country - since I actively avoid facebook [which insists on making sure I have two freaking copies of every. Single. IM. Sent.]

I don't even go on skype because it seems like a bother to have another program running.
The closest thing I do to IMing now is snapchat

I skype and text people. Tweet (or DM via Twitter) them, if I can't do either of those things.

I really hate using Facebook, so I don't.

Yes.

If I ask to exchange skype/aim/yahoo names, it means that you and I are Close.

Not like I used to, but I still use AIM to talk to a few people, mainly for plotting for RPGs.

I use skype. A lot. Alotalot. It is the best way to get ahold of me if you don't have my phone number. A lot of my real life friends are on it and I'm always talking to someone.

I don't use Facebook.

Yes, but at the moment I pretty much only talk to one person on AIM.

Yeah, I use a multi-IM platform (Trillian) so I don't have a bunch of programs on my PC, because I hate Facebook like burning.

I use Pidgin, and usually talk with at least two people via IM daily.

I use Yahoo all the time to talk to my SO, my BFF, my other BFF, and my daughter. SO and daughter because my phone is old and texting is hard on it and since he's in the Lair downstairs and she's a teen and lazy, that's the way we talk. Heh.

I despise 'gchat', the mess that's attached to gmail, and a few other im platforms i've dl'ed really suck, too. I use an old version of Yahell, with everything turned off/stripped out, so it's all good.

I think a lot of sites - not just Facebook - made IM less common. Personally, I level a huge lot of blame at Twitter.

On the other hand, I am currently using IM again, to chat with a friend I made due to fanfic.

I use AIM all the time. I hate having facebook chat on (I don't want random people and relatives bothering me at all hours, especially since I see them in the real world and am thus obligated to drop things and chat) and I'm generally uncomfortable giving my real facebook to people I only know online (with a couple exceptions who have proven themselves uncrazy).

AIM is safe.
