same here

I'm trying to figure out why anyone still fucking cares.

But I come from the fanfiction ideology that they will be whatever I decide to write them as, and if two canonically straight guys are fucking each other in my fic, then I'm staying true to my authorial vision (aka: whatever the fuck I want and everyone else can go soak their head).

Oh hey, we feel exactly the same. And to add on, if I were you and writing that fic, if someone asked me if the canon characters were heterosexual I would say, "Yeah, probably. They're just not in my fic because I do what I want."

But on top of that, how you perceive a character is how you perceive a character. Who the fuck cares? Just do whatever. No one gives a shit.

Also, this person is in the majority so I don't even fucking know what to tell them.

Jayzus, this.

Yes. Christ on a unicycle, yes.

Well, yeah, that's totally fine. But it's one thing to write a fic and another to go around fandom calling people homophobic because (and this dates me, I guess) they ship Gabrielle with Iolaus and not Xena, because obviously Xena and Gabrielle belong together and anyone who doesn't see it hates gay people.

I agree, but I also think pretty much everyone here agrees with that. And this whole conversation is kind of weird / funny because it's mostly people who agree with each other and the argument is between people responding to a whole third group of people who aren't here, and dancing their words around those peoples' beliefs.. It's kind of odd, in a way.

Which falls under, "But on top of that, how you perceive a character is how you perceive a character. Who the fuck cares? Just do whatever. No one gives a shit."

Those people are dumbasses. You shouldn't give a shit about them.

But none of this has anything to do with the secret because it's a "what if" scenario. "What if the OP is in this fandom and that's why they made the secret". Well, what if the OP just has a persecution complex? We'll never know unless the OP comes down here. I'm not going to talk about "what ifs". I'm just going to say this is a stupid ass secret because it is.

Or when people go to a convention and harass the actors, then complain on Tumblir when they're shut down.
