Good for you. You are exercising your hard fought for right to make up your own mind and assume whatever you wish. It is a perk of living in the Western World. Now, you gotta remember, that other people have that right too, and their assumes and their choices might not be the same as yours, but that is one of the downsides of that perk. So, if someone wants to pair up your favourite fandom character with another (wo)man, intersexed character, space alien, dolphin and have them that way all along, well good for them too.
