People who've seen the second Twilight movie

[personal profile] loracarol 2013-10-13 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I really enjoyed the first movie, but I've admittedly not seen the second movie because of the "i'm so proud of you kissing my daughter without her consent and her hurting herself trying to make you stop" scene in the book. Does that happen in the movie as well?

There's the specific scene, yes. I can't remember if the father says anything about it, but even without that, the second movie is pretty boring. I haven't read the books but watched the movies with a friend to snark about it, and while the first one is okay, the other two are not as good. They're a bit too long for the story they have to tell - a pity, because, without the whole creepy patterns of behaviour element, the world building and the character could have actually been fascinating in a different story.

Thanks for the info! Especially about it being boring; that's the only reason I liked the others, because they were entertaining, but boring is just... Boring.

Basically, Edward breaks up with Bella five minutes into the movie and she stares at her window for weeks. She also tries to ride a bicycle without a helmet and goes out with thugs. That's... about it.

And you're welcome!

...And I already saw all those scenes in Vampires Suck. >_>;

Thanks for saving me a movie watch!

It's really not, and it sucks, because I really liked Charlie in every other scene, and honestly, that bit seems so ridiculously out of character. :/ I mean, he's a cop for heavensakes, you'd think he'd get that hey, kissing someone without their permission is not okay! And, I know he thinks Jacob is a lot better for Bella than Edward, but at the same time!

I just felt like Stephanie Meyer had realized that the people who disliked Edward had to be made into horrible people or else we might start to emphasize with their dislike of him, rather than realize that Edward was just ~so ~conflicted. /my $0.02

That's the third book/film, and though the scene with the two guys fighting is still there, the screenwriter mercifully cut that despicable horseshit that Charlie says. He just gets the boys to stop fighting.

I actually never read the third book- I read the first, thought "meh", read the second, hated it, then read the fourth because I was in a situation where I had literally nothing better to do. >_>; But I'll keep that in mind if I do end up reading it (my friend told me that there's a lot of cool history about the vamps, so I'm a little interested ngl)

DA

There *is* cool history about secondary vampire characters but they're well, secondary. Very secondary. The first movie is actually the best of the three I've watched, so mayyybe you can turn to well-written fanfiction first. The second movie is pretty boring, the third is even more because NOTHING happens in it except in the last fifteen minutes.

Welp.

I'll just stick for the first movie for laugh values, then. :I

Well, if you can watch them with a friend, there's plenty to snark about. Silver linings, my friend! Silver linings!

That is true! I'll have to have a Twilight Night, and we'll just be stupid and snark at the movies. Might be fun. :3
