Am I the only one confused by this?

"Especially (FTFY) if the character has always been in hetero relationships and showed no interest in the opposite sex or denied it outright."

WTF does that mean? Did you get confused and mean to say you assume homosexual relationship if they show no interest in the opposite sex or deny it? That would make a butt-ton more sense.

Or are you just trolling?

Ha, I totally missed that! I assume they meant to say if the character showed no interest in the same sex -- that's certainly how I read it. Or maybe they mean opposite sex from the people the character has been in relationships with?

At this point, I'm assuming English as a second or third language, and didn't get the memo about the differences between hetero and homo.

Not the only one! I was hoping the op would show up to clarify... Either they confused homo-/hetero- or how opposite-/same-sex referencing works.

Oh. What. What does that even mean?

I think I cracked the code.

They're saying that if someone is acting obviously gay, by not expressing attraction to the opposite sex, or by either denying heterosexuality or denying homosexuality SO MUCH that pretty much everyone thinks "Wow you sure are denying that a lot, you're probably gay." (see Tobias from Arrested Development), they (that is, the OP) decides to headcanon them as straight. For the lulz. I guess.
