I still haven't gotten to the second gym yet.

I chose the fire starter simply because fire Pokemon usually come later in the game. It turns out that there's one in the very first forest, and I didn't know/remember that I'd be getting one of the Kanto starters, and I love charizard and bought X version because I liked the mega-evo for charizard in x better than y.

It's odd playing through a Pokemon game without 90% of it spoiled ahead of time again.
