there's a major difference there, though: straight is still considered the default. most people start out assuming that they're straight unless and until they encounter something that makes them question it.

people who are gay or bisexual almost always go through a period of questioning/examining themselves to figure out what their sexuality is because they are NOT the default. therefore, someone who identifies as gay or bisexual has probably already done that questioning and soul-searching in order to figure out their identity.
