AYRT

*nodnod* They were cool

Also I have seen people on Amazon who called Tris an "unlikeable protagonist" which really annoyed me. I saw her as initially being unsure about herself, but deep down very willful, and becoming "harsher" to fit in with her faction.

I imagine it's the same problem they had with Katniss, because of the similar writing styles. I have to be honest, one of the problems I have with the books is that the dialogue sometimes sounds really flat to me and I forget who's talking, especially during Tris and Tobias scenes in the second book. I've been paying close attention to Tris's character development though and it's nicely consistent. Her harshness has to do with the influence Dauntless had on her, the fact that she HAS to be defensive in order to survive, oh and the HUGE TRAUMA she went through at the end of the first book.

People are impossible to please.

Also people thought she was "OMG SO HEARTLESS" for not forgiving one of the guys who tried to kill and touched her up (I read it as some of the guys felt her up when they were carrying her which added to the skeeve levels). Her reaction could very well have been due to trauma (though she expressed it in anger).

That bothered me too.

Oh. Did they mean Al? What the fuck did we read the same scene. Because I inferred that they would've raped her had she not managed to escape/fight back (the details of which I am drawing a blank on).

I sorta remember something about throwing her in some canyon to get her "out of the competition"

It's been a while since I've read it though. I might have mistranslated it.
