Pro cra sti nation

I'm already a week late with my assignment, but my teacher said to do it "as quick as possible".
Now I thought of an excuse why I hand it in late, something about the email not arriving, or fess up to it... but I have to fucking finish it first.

I know I would only need a day of work, but I have done NOTHING in 8 days!!

Every time I sit down I get this massive wave of discomfort. It's not that hard! Why can't I just do the work??? I know nobody can help me but myself.

What do I do? How can I get myself to work?
Normally I procrastinate but panic early enough to get the work done. This summer was so stressful that I'm fearing that I got a blockage, I just feel so indifferent. However, if I don't finish this assignment, most of my work of this summer goes to waste. What do I do??

You sound exactly like me. I've been putting off my assignment for so long, and I just hope it'll be done in time.

For me I've just had to make myself open the document and start typing. Maybe do a bit, have a break, do some more, have a break... that kind of thing. You could also try talking about the assignment with someone, it may give you motivation to work.

Go to a library, your school's computer lab, or somewhere else that's open. Being in a different environment can help loads. And open up that word document or what have you and just do it. Making excuses and delaying it further won't help.

I'm the same way. I don't know why I feel stressed out at the prospect of doing something, but I think it's general anxiety and worries over how badly I'll mess it up. What might help is just trying not to think about it much beforehand. Set a timer for say, half an hour. Work through that half hour, then reward yourself with fifteen minutes of something you enjoy, like reading a book or watching cat videos on youtube, whatever. Keep going with the cycle and remind yourself that it's no big deal, your brain is just trying to psyche you out.

Other people have given you good advice about getting started. I just want to add one thing:

Do not make up some feeble excuse for handing it in late. Whatever you come up with, your instructor has heard it a thousand times already. Tell them the truth: "I didn't budget my time very well." They will likely appreciate the honesty and may even give you some advice about how to deal with your worry/procrastination/panic/stress cycle. Many of them have had to learn the hard way to deal with it themselves.
