Well...he not only doesn't support slavery, he's genuinely offended at the suggestion that he MIGHT support it. He speaks of people from other cultures with respect. He apparently has no difficulty taking orders from women, and indeed seems to really like assertive women. He switched sides in the Revolutionary War for moral reasons. He's not a great crusader for justice, per se, but he seems to put his money where his mouth is and quietly act according to his morals--which aren't, thus far, at all in opposition with modern morals.

Hm...well, hopefully this won't require too much suspension of disbelief when I actually watch it, but it sounds pretty good! :)
