What characters do you find yourself disliking or indifferent to in canon but enjoying in fanon?

Or the opposite: loving in canon but can't stand the fanon version?

I'm more likely to notice battling fanon versions of characters.

Most of Teen Wolf's characters.

Yes. Very much so.

I am indifferent on the show Hannibal but the fanon jokes crack me up.

I like Loki in marvel comics canon, hate him in fanon. Actually, this can go for pretty much any of the fandom woobified evil characters, since I enjoy that archetype for villains but popular fanon tends to do the weirdest shit to them.

I don't like Hannibal at all, but I love the Will and dog jokes.

I like Loki in the MCU but I try to stay away from him in fandom. Too much of his more enthusiastic fans and I get sick of even hearing about him or seeing Hiddles' face.

I don't LOVE Darcy from Thor, but I like her well enough in canon. I loaaaaathe fanon!Darcy though. She is inevitably written as an author self-insert or mouthpiece or both. It's the point I have "Darcy" blacklisted on tumblr and if she shows up as a character list for a fic I'm considering reading, I will just not read it.

I find it especially ironic that people who love/write fanon!Darcy seem to hate Skye in Agents of SHIELD. Because Skye has a lot of the same uber geek, fight the power, awkward outsider stuff that Darcy seems to get written with, and I find her infinitely more tolerable.

Yes, Skye is just Darcy 2.0.

It's so funny, since I have "Darcy" and "M-preg" blacklisted on AO3, the Thor and Avengers fic section is very empty XD It's quite refreshing!

I don't actually hate them even in canon (just feel like they've been colossally and bafflingly wasted), but fanon!Ponds >>>>>>>>>>>> canon!Ponds in Doctor Who.

I like Scott from Teen Wolf better in fic, mostly because the authors and therefore the characters will recognize his faults. I do like him on the show, but it seems like because he's the title character, rainbows come out of his ass and no one ever calls him on his shit.

On the flipside, for the most part I like Stiles better in canon only because so many authors get his characterization wrong. Not all of them, and I'm a huge Sterek shipper that consumes lots of fic, but a lot of them. He is far from perfect in canon but you wouldn't know it from some of the fic.

Darcy from the MCU, I really quite enjoy her in canon but her fanon counterpart is nothing like her.

Not sure if this counts, but....

The existence of fanon Snape drives me up the wall, but sometimes I wish that he had actually been more like that in canon.

I hate the fandom versions of my favorite Homestuck trolls and kids (Equius is just a sweaty spineless loser! Eridan is a whiny "wweh"-ing dweeb who only cares about his quadrants! Nepeta is a poor abused baby! John is a wide-eyed innocent babby!)

I also hate the fandom version of the relationship between the Strider brothers, where it's all cruel and painful and sad all the time, when it's really not.
