OP

I am a Sylvari ranger. I haven't tried any others because leveling up seems daunting just the one time. I'm doing the main quest line, I guess, with random running to new locations when I get bored with the grind. I haven't done any PVP. Haven't collected enough stuff to craft with.

I mean you might find every PS option boring, so I don't know, but I know when I find a character that *clicks* I don't really get bored. I just started a new character last night and in one night leveled up to 11 just by running around and doing the Personal Story stuff.

What do you generally enjoy in an MMO? Maybe try switching it up and exploring for a bit, trying out the different hearts/quests and catching some events in different maps.

DA

Leveling is actually pretty easy, since you get experience for almost everything you do, and with how GW2 does level scaling. If you don't like the character/personal story [which is the closest thing GW2 has to a main quest line], then you really should try out another because the racial bits of the story can be completely different between the races.

Hi! A little bird that knows my love for GW2 told me about this thread.

Okay first off, I am fully in love with the Guild Wars universe so I'm a bit biased here, but I think the game can be fun for all types of players. It's just a matter of finding out what style you like.

As the other anons said, the game is pretty easy to level up in so if you're finding it boring I strongly suggest trying out a new character. Sylvari ranger happens to be one of my favorites but I'm about the only one in my guild that thinks so. And there's no harm in creating a new character; you don't have to delete your ranger or anything.

If you don't care about spoilers you could always check out the GW2 wiki to see which racial story options seem the most interesting to you. Each race has three different stories you can go through, and they really are very different. Not only are the stories different but each starter zone has a different feel to it. Maybe Caledon Forest just isn't for you. While I love the sylvari I have to admit their starting zone is definitely not one of my favorites.

And there really is no reason your friend couldn't come back and play with you as GW2 has level scaling. They'll still get experience for everything they do while playing with you.

Feel free to message me if you want. I can talk GW2 all day long.
