Re: Pokemon Black 2/White 2 or Pokemon X/Y?
Okay, let's see.
- Both are pretty plotty, although BW2 admittedly needs knowledge of BW to get the full impact (having Memory Link also seriously adds to the experience).
- For amount of Pokemon caught, XY adds around 70 new ones to the dex. Both have a really good range of both native Pokemon and Pokemon from other regions to catch - my X team is half new, half old, and my W2 team had two Unovan and four other Pokemon (although my two White teams had 100% Unovan teams). You can get some really good Pokemon early on in both routes - you can catch Riolu, Mareep, and a bunch of others before even the FIRST gym in BW2 (my Riolu - now Lucario - ended up being the first Pokemon I ever got to level 100, too!), and you can get Pokemon like Ralts and Budew (I had NO idea Roselia was so damn amazing!) really early in XY.
- Features! They vary, so it depends on what you want to do, really. XY has some really fantastic ones, like Pokemon-amie (which is REALLY ADDICTIVE), Super Training (basically, easier EV training), and fun things like Wonder Trade, where you send out a Pokemon and get a random one in return. There's also character customisation!! There's also stuff in Lumiose City, like battle restaurants. For BW2, there's Pokestar Studios, Black Tower/White Treehollow, Pokemon World Tournament, Pokemon Musical, all sorts of neat stuff. There's also the medal rally to keep you motivated! I really like Join Avenue, which can be pretty addictive (and get you some damn good stuff, including an even EASIER equivalent to EV training - although it does cost money).
- Postgame is a HUGE consideration. From what I'm hearing, XY doesn't have a whooole lot, whereas BW2 has tons and tons to do - see above. Pretty much all of those are an ongoing challenge. BW2 also has actual motivations to catch 'em all - if you see everything in the Unova dex (300 Pokemon, doesn't include event-only legendaries), you get a permit to an area where you can catch a shiny Haxorus, if you CATCH everything in the Unova dex, you get a round charm, which helps speed up breeding, and if you catch everything in the NATIONAL dex, you get a shiny charm, which increases your rate of encountering shinies significantly. Admittedly, we don't know a huuuge amount about XY's postgame, but it doesn't seem to be quite as big.
So really, it depends on what you want to get. XY is absolutely gorgeous and has a lot of shiny new things, but BW2 is magnificent and has SO much to still play with.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-16 02:13 am (UTC)(link)I am playing White right now, so connecting it toW2 would be nice.... But all the new shiny pokemon and graphics upgrade make me want XY lol. I will have to think hard on this one.
