I'm honestly baffled by the amount of fans who were genuinely upset when it turned out Hannibal was evil and villainous and didn't want to help Will at all.

Are we even watching the same show, or is their entire conception of reality filtered through shipping and fanfic?

Well, it was kinda what the showrunner wanted. They made Hannibal really likeable as a person, so it was more of a shock I guess when he turned out to be the bad guy. It worked far too well.

I simply don't understand how you could get into this show and completely forget that he's a villain. I mean, that's the whole point! I suppose people are going to see what they want to.

Oh, yeah, I understood that it was also in the way the character was written and presented (which I thought was pretty clever, since I found myself thinking he was likeable).

It's more the people who seemed to just completely forget he was the bad guy. Did they expect Hannibal and Will and Abigail to be a happy murder family or something?

I'll admit, I love murder family stories, but I only like them as an alternate universe. I don't actually think it could possibly work that way. I mean, we actually know what happens in the future with Will and Hannibal, and then Clarice. We have a different interpretation of events, sure, but Hannibal's not going to win.
