I'd recommend craigslist actually. Craigslist and local garage sales. There are some pretty decent ones in the $35-50 range. Oh, and five octaves, since they all come with different numbers of keys I'd say get one that has five octaves or more. There's nothing more frustrating then trying to play a piece and having just one or two notes get all twinkly where your instrument physically cannot play them.

I'm currently browsing craigslist for my own, since I just moved out of my sister's house and can no longer use hers on a daily basis.

Same thing with how to play piano books, though those are more used book stores and garage sales vs craigslist and garage sales. (I've been able to get $20-30 broadway/disney music books for like $5-8 at used book stores.)

Thank you! I never thought of CL as a 'musical instrument' sort of go to place.

No problem! And yeah, they have a whole 'musical instrument' section, so it's pretty cool. The one thing to just be wary of - which goes for all craigslist electronic stuff - is to make sure the thing actually works before you buy it.

Which of course requires making the deal somewhere where there's electricity... though now there's a bunch of cafes and stuff that offer free wifi/power outlets, so that could be good 'neutral' ground. ETA: (Not sure how the staff would view lugging in a whole keyboard vs the usual tiny laptop of course.)
