It's hard to pinpoint specific things, but I'll try. I'm not fond of the characters, especially the Elric brothers, which is a big change from my feelings towards their anime counterparts. There's something about the little differences in their behavior that annoys me. I'm also not engaged by the plot. The set-up was great, but it started to feel more and more like it was being made up on the fly and that the stories from the beginning didn't matter at all in the big scope of things. Of course, I haven't read it since about the time Ed saw Al's body outside the Gate, so it may be different now. Mostly it just rubs me the wrong way, but people are so elitist about the manga being superior to the anime in all conceivable ways that I get worked up about not being able to see what's so great about it and instead just hate it for letting me down.

Ah, I see. It's really subjective, I think...I like both, but do prefer the manga more. It's whatever though, heh. I take it you watched the anime first? (I did, actually. 8O)

Yeah, it is really subjective. :p Technically, I saw the anime first, as I caught an episode on Adult Swim, but I did read some of the manga (the first two volumes or so) online before I watched the whole anime series. After finishing that, I went back to the manga, and was disappointed. Then the elitism got all widespread online, and though I kept reading more chapters, I just got angrier and angrier until I finally gave up. Thanks for not being a jerk about my opinion, though - I wish everyone was more like you. :D

The FMA fandom can be a really scary place sometimes, lol. I find it best to just, uh...tread water on the outskirts. ;D

djfdsk man, I can, uh, so totally relate here. I was actually involved heavily in the fandom when the manga elitism first kicked up, before the anime even started airing here. :P It was one of the things that finally pushed me out of the fandom since, uh, I find the manga to be kind of... y'know, infantile in comparison. And I did indeed read it first.

But, y'know. High five sister (or brother), high five!
