(Anonymous) 2013-10-16 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)Stop. If you don't make it an issue, and you're actually good at what you do, other people won't make it an issue. If they do, fuck them.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-17 02:45 am (UTC)(link)Don't be afraid of either. Seriously. Every day, you'll go to work, probably an office if you're aiming for that kind of thing. You'll talk about the job, you'll wonder what's for lunch, you'll pound away at a keyboard or a Cintiq, you'll go to meetings where you get to talk about what you like to talk about, and then there will be stuff that you don't want to talk about.
It's a job. Unless you're CS you don't have to deal with the fanbase, and over the past few years, the industry has grown in maturity as well. I've been in it for 8 years, and it's been fantastic every step.
Be more worried about having a rockin' portfolio. Best of luck in the future, anon!

(Anonymous) 2013-10-17 11:58 am (UTC)(link)If you're in the US ... well, good luck. Now that the issue has been getting a lot more attention lately, a discussion might get started that will lead to more acceptance. In 10 years' time of something. And you can be part of that change! Isn't that exciting? Try to see the positive aspects of that?
