I just got Pokemon Y and I don't know if I want to play as a boy or a girl. The girls are adorable and I bet their clothes are nicer. On the other hand, if there's an opportunity for me to ship someone with the PC, I'll want to play as a dude.

I know it doesn't really make a difference but. Indecision for the win!

Yeah, I've heard amazing things about it. :3

I can confirm that the girl's have cuter clothes.

There's some shippy moments between friends, but they're the same no matter what game you play. They do swap main rival and player character's gender with who you play.

There are at least five shipping opportunities I've seen with the main character, three of whom are female. The closest I've identified so far to a rival character is female.

I went with the girl because 1) I... just usually pick my own gender to play as in Pokémon games and 2) she's super cute! So, I vote girl.

This is the first pokemon game since crystal that I'm happy with the female design so I'm going with the lady. Now I just need to be a loser and get all the starters.

There's apparently a 'date' moment between Calem (as the PC) and Shauna, with the same scene there and sliiiightly reworded if you're playing as Serena. I'm running with it anyway. F/F in Pokemon fuck yeah :D

And yeah, Serena has way cuter clothes.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-17 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
...Serena? Is that the default name or...?

Oh! Yeah, Serena's the default name (if you choose one, the other has a fairly prominent role in the game as well, and their name there is Calem / Serena. They also have default appearances, despite the customisation available to the player character - Calem's is the one with dark hair, Serena's is the one with the honey-coloured hair). Apparently they're based on 'calm' and 'serene'?

I actually really liked the placeholder names we saw earlier on (Xavier and Yvonne), but since I'm playing X, I've actually named my character Xandra (Dutch nickname for Alexandra, I'm pretending she comes from the Pokemon equivalent of Netherlands ;) )
