First we need to decide who is the GOAT musician/composer/singer/whatever.

If you make the greatest the definer, everything will be below that. You want a baseline in the middle of the bell curve. Somebody everybody knows but that won't necessarily be considered the greatest.

Thus, I submit the man with one of the best known hits of all time, but whom few if any would consider the greatest musician.
