Their pacing is normally really slow when you're listening in realtime.

The episode One Year Later, where Carlos and Cecil have their big dramatic emotional breakthrough, is followed by Faceless Old Woman, which doesn't so much as mention Carlos' name. I imagine that was frustrating for people who had already waited two weeks, and now had to wait two more for any payoff on the relationship. But in terms of content, it's only a half-hour break from the cliffhanger before picking back up again.

No reason to think the Strex plot won't unfold at the same speed, and be solidly built up along the way.

I mean, even the army of people from the miniature city was mentioned like, a handful of times over the course of a year, and that obviously had a big payoff. Strex is gonna be the same way.

And considering the format, I think the slow pacing works.
