80s movies

(Anonymous) 2013-10-16 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Today I bought Ghost Chase and the soundtrack for Dream A Little Dream. I'm super excited for both. What 80s movies (the more B-movies the better) are your favorites?

The Last Starfighter
Enemy Mine
Back to The Future
Indiana Jones and The Lost Ark

AYRT

I was never an Indiana Jones fan (the only one I like in the one with Sean Connery), but I love all those other movies. I even made an Enemy Mine secret once.

Oooh. What was your secret!? I love Enemy Mine.

It was at the height of people complaining about "cultural appropriation" in everything, and Enemy Mine was a perfect example of how, that's kind of what happens sometimes, and it's not always an evil thing. Cultures get shared. Cultures blend. It can help keep them alive. Chill the eff out.

I DO still have the secret!

And I kind of misremembered it above:

Hah. I'm sad I missed that thread. Was it wanky?

R.O.T.O.R

Deadly Spawn
Xtro
Miami Connection
Trancers
Enemy Mine
Breaking 2: Electric Boogaloo
Knightriders

Probably a lot more things I forgot to remember.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai. Big Trouble In Little China.

Buckaroo Bonzai is one I always wanted to see, but never did. It has also just reminded me of Earth Girls Are Easy.

hmmm Earth Girls Are Easy is also a good one, for some reason I thought it came out in the 90s

Buckaroo Banzai is great! it's definitely not for everyone, but if you're the kind of person who's into it, and can deal with the slightly absurd plot, you'll probably love it.

Re: 80s movies

- Tron
- Spaceballs
- The Black Cauldron
- Labyrinth
- Predator
- Escape from New York
- The Princess Bride
- The Terminator

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are a few others I'm forgetting.

Police Academy

I really like the Mahoney (Steve Gutenberg) years, but I also enjoyed the fifth and sixth movies. I have no use for Mission to Moscow.

Wikipedia is telling me it looks like another one might be in the works. Perhaps a reboot? :D
pantswarrior: Seven declares that fun may commence. (fun fun fun fun)

I was a kid in the 80s, so pretty much all my longterm favorites are 80s movies.

UHF (still a little in love with Weird Al)
Flight of the Navigator
Short Circuit (1 and 2 both)
Adventures in Babysitting
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
Labyrinth
Pee Wee's Big Adventure
cassandraoftroy: Sarah from Labyrinth, leaning against a brown brick wall, looking discouraged. (labyrinth)
