All, I know is that is damn near made me crash my car when I first heard it as it triggered my PTSD; therefore, I consider it dangerous. I now know to change the station, but just hearing the first few cords can trigger an attack now.

Though, it still isn't as bad as that stupid milk commercial where they pour milk in one bowl of cereal that moans, 'Oh yeah,' while they pour orange juice in the one next to it and it screams, 'What are you doing? No.'

I used to drink milk everyday, and now I can't see it in the store without my stomach turning. That one brought on an attack that left me crying off and on all day long—which makes Blurred Lines pretty minor in comparison, but I'm never going to accidentally run into the milk commercial (at least I hope not) while driving 60 mph down a highway.

Note: I have turned to listening to only cd's in my car, since I can't trust my radio anymore. I know that 'Sorry my PTSD was triggered by an misogynist asshole, isn't going to be very good defensive.'

I'm not trying to be mean, but damn, I hope you're seeing some sort of therapist about that because a milk commercial and the OPENING chords of a song should NOT be triggering you. Especially since it seems like you're saying it's the fault of a song on the radio and a milk commercial on a TV that you're being triggered.

Get it in hand or you're not going to be able to leave your domicile before too long.

How do you not know what a trigger is?

I think they're trying to say that the fact that things like milk commercials are triggering you is a really serious problem, much bigger than the song itself.

You almost crashed a car, dude. Get help.

No, listening to the sounds of rape triggered me...I don't run into the sound of rape often in my daily life—it is a very poorly thought out commercial. I get that sex sells, but damn, back off on the rape, because it doesn't.

I'm not terrified of the world or anything. Triggers are very rare for me. There's not much you can do about being triggered. It happens.

And though it would be nice to go get help; help is not free. I think this is what people forget a lot about this as they are always saying to go get help. From what free source that is going to let me talk to them at 8 or 9 at night, after my husband gets home to watch the kids am I to be getting this help?

It is a beautiful idea and one I fully support happening, but is as of yet not a reality.

I read a lot of books from the library that help, and I write about it—well, very vaguely with characters that are nothing like me, but still.

But it doesn't change that these things are poorly thought out, and therefore triggers.

The thing is, nobody else percieves these as rape sounds.

Even the people who think blurred lines is "rapey" don't think it has actual rape noises in it.

Your perceptions are skewed. Badly. Like "find a way to get somebody to watch the kids and go get help" skewed.

And these things do have a risk of getting worse and not better. Then there will be more and more triggers.

Blurred Lines doesn't have rape sounds...I think you're misreading what I'm saying.

The milk commercial has a panicked pained voice screaming 'What are you doing? No! Don't do that!' At the same time as another voices is moaning 'Oh, yeah!'

I'm confused how anyone can picture that sounding like anything but rape...it is trying to get you to buy milk 'oh, yeah', as it is such a better experience than OJ 'No, don't do that. Stop. What are you doing?'

You obviously missed the: I don't have the money to do that. My kids have never been to a babysitter ever, because I don't have the money. We have family, but just like my husband—they have jobs. And even if I could get a babysitter, that doesn't magically make therapy free.

I get what you are saying, but there really is nothing I can do that I haven't already done. I don't listen to the radio anymore, and I don't watch tv. I write, I read, I fandom, and I take care of my kids. (And I do appreciate that fandom is kind enough to have warnings.)

Oh, wait. I see, I see. It sounded like I was talking about both of them, but I was only talking about one of them. Blurred Lines did trigger me, because it was just the nausea and the shock of the first time being triggered.

It was the whole club scene that I was envisioning while listening to it, and then being hit with the 'I know you want it' after the your good girl, bad girl and I hate the blurred lines being caused by this alcohol — I don't know the song just feels like you're in a club drinking and then a guy comments on that you're drinking, and then starts saying all the things guys say when they are trying to justify that it won't be rape.

I think it is one think on top of the other, type of thing and not a: this one sentence damns it.

Should not be triggering? Indeed. Nothing at all should be triggering, so let's just decide that's so and no one will be triggered anymore. Brilliant.

Weird things trigger different people. A certain trade in a comic series I love triggered me quite badly. I still haven't finished that trade, and I started reading it in February. It would be innocuous to most people, if not a little, "Oh this is disappointing," but it sent me off the deep end.

I'm not going to be agoraphobic because of a comic book, so shut your trap.

One, I wasn't actually commenting to you, so please stop borrowing that affronted outrage. I was speaking to the person I commented to, because after saying she nearly ran her car off the road from a SONG on the radio (and I understand it was the lyrics she was hearing for the first time), she went on to say a milk commercial triggered her as well. Now she just listens to CDs and I think she says she avoids TV? The one thing and then two things was what I was commenting to - the fact that these things are cropping up and seems so innocuous but it's triggering her (to the point where she loses control of her car?), those are a bigger problem than Robin Thicke's musical choices.

How many things make a pattern? Two? Three? Do you see what I was saying? That was what I was commenting on. Insensitively, as it turns out, because when it comes to rape and triggers, you really need to walk on egg shells, I'm finding out.
