fandomsecret is dying

(Anonymous) 2013-10-17 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously, 9 secrets are the norm nowadays.

It doesn't surprise me to be honest, many people try to read the worst into every secret. Plus there are tons of specific tumblr blogs which are more forgiving and less fandom bashing.
I mean I get annoyed about x amount of secrets of the same fandom in a row as well... But just to give an example, Homestuck mostly fell off the fs radar after hating against their fandom, although it's as wanky (and secret worthy) as ever it seems.

I like what the general discussion thread has become though.

I hope people are just busy with school or whatever and it'll pick up some.

It's always 'dying' apparently, but the comm activity picks up again, then the secret numbers decline again... It's a cycle.

I'm sure f!s will be fine, for now. (And hey, if you want to see secrets about something, you should submit them! Maybe you'll inspire someone to submit their own.)

These kinds of topics got boring a long time ago. Once it actually dies then everyone can say 'I told you so'. Until then can't we just enjoy the ride?

No, we're already dead.

This is the afterlife, anon.

I don't think it's dying, it's just changing. People still want to talk, they just don't want to talk about secrets as much.

It's been, what, two weeks since the last time someone declared that fandomsecrets was dying? Three?

YOU GUYS 'FANDOMSECRETS IS DYING' COMMENTS ARE DYING.

Oh no!

At this rate, we'll have to post the twice! Daily! If anyone will take our plight seriously.

The secrets, yes. Fandom!Secrets, no.

Not really. Not as a community. The secret numbers have declined, but we're still getting about the same number of comments per post as we always have since the switch to DW.

People just find the general comments section more fun than the secrets, and I gotta say I totally agree with them. The secrets are only 1/4 awesome/hilarious/shocking and 3/4 speshul snowflake whining and people pretending that their opinion is so ~persecuted~ and ahead of the times and insightful and better than the opinions of all those sheeple that is has to be a ~sekrit~ The secrets are, in a word, rarely secrets. Sometimes they're great discussion prompters, but it seems the days of shocking and hilarious deep dark secrets aren't in vogue anymore.

The general comments section, on the other hand, has become one of the most epic discussion memes I've ever had the pleasure of participating in. And I'm fine with most of my fandomsecrets participation staying on the GC section, because the discussion-prompters in the GC section tend to be a lot more interesting than the ones in the secrets.

I guess because we have a good, familiar, steady community, there aren't many sporadic fly-by-night anon secret-makers dropping in anymore, which is why they've gotten so un-numerous and so predictable and samey.
