Fucking photographers - A Rant - TW

Ok, so there is this website for british models and photographers to display their portfolios, make contacts, and get work off each other.

A lot of these sites can be... risky. Some photogs are, frankly slime. There are cases of photographers actually sexually assaulting models, and when reported the models are generally told things like "What do you want us to do? If we ban him, or let these complaints stand, we might be sued for liable, so we're going to need you to keep quiet." Really horrible stuff.

Because of this, there is a group online dedicated to model safety, keeping models aware of some of the worse cases in the hopes that they'll stay safe from the sketchy photogs.

On one particular site, someone posted in the forum a link about the frequency of rape in India (it was shocklingly high) and one 'gentleman' made a joke "At least you won't need to spit in her cunt, the last guy will have left it nice and wet." Classy guy, obviously.

The model safety group hears about this. A few members for the group, as well as a few people not part of the group complain, saying this is really not cool, and would they please remove it. Site owner responds with something to the tune of 'Comedians say stuff worse than this all the time, stop whining.' and accusing the 'secret model group' of planning a hate campaign. Like wanting to keep models safe is like the fucking illuminati or something.

But yeah, so a day or two later a great deal of perma!bans get handed around. To the models involved in the model safety group. including at least one model who hadn't even made a complaint about the sick joke, presumably just for being a part of the model safety group. This is grounds for a perma!ban, apparently.

I mean, Fucking. Hell.

Scrolling down the page I misread "perma!ban" as "penis ban" and went "wait what"

...now, having read the post, a penis ban sounds like it would be warranted. damn.

I would very much like to have some people's cocks revoked. Very much.

(Disclaimer, which shouldn't be needed, but so frequently is: I am not suggesting that everyone with a penis and a camera is a bad guy. I'm not even talking about most male togs. Just some. Some of them do not deserve the ability to reproduce.)

Up until recently I would have said it was one of the most professional sites out there. Yes, most of the rest really are that bad.

Sad thing is, even though the models pay the same subscription fees as the photographers, a lot of these sites seem to regard the models as commodities and the photographers as their customers. You would think they would have a duty of care to make sure the models on the site are safe, and that that would trump the fear of a liable suit.
